On May 20th, the American Foreign Policy Council hosted the latest installment of its annual Capitol Hill conference series on “Missile Defenses and American Security.” The event, held in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, featured a keynote address by Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a key Congressional leader on national security and defense issues.

The American Foreign Policy Council is pleased to announce that Lawrence J. Haas has joined the organization as Senior Fellow for U.S. Foreign Policy. In that capacity, Haas will focus his research and writing on contemporary American diplomacy, U.S. foreign policy toward the Mideast, and issues of human rights and democracy worldwide.

The American Foreign Policy Council is pleased to announce that Leland Miller has joined the organization as Fellow in International Economics. Miller, a New York-based corporate attorney, is a former Research Fellow for the congressional U.S.-China Economic & Security Review Commission, and an expert on economics and international development in China, East Asia and Central Asia.

On Monday, October 5th, AFPC President Herman Pirchner, Jr. will speak at the Woodrow Wilson Center's Kennan Institute in Washington, DC on "The Uncertain Future: Sino-Russian Relations in the 21st Century."
