On July 13, AFPC Vice President Ilan Berman, Kraemer Strategy Fellow Jeff M. Smith, and Research Fellow Rich Harrison headlined an event at the Heritage Foundation titled “The Global Scope of Radical Islam:  A Briefing on the American Foreign Policy Council’s new World Almanac of Islamism.”

On June 8, AFPC hosted a senior political and economic delegation from China in Washington, DC. 

    On May 5, AFPC formally unveiled the digital version of its ground-breaking new analytical resource on radical Islam, the World Almanac of Islamism, at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. AFPC Vice President Ilan Berman was interviewed on February 28th by Esquire.com on the current turmoil taking place in the Middle East.

Between December 19 and 24, an AFPC delegation visited the Russian regions of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan to conduct field research on Russia’s Muslim minority, confessional relations in the Russian heartland, and the rising threat of Islamic radicalism within the Russian Federation. The delegation – led by AFPC President Herman Pirchner and AFPC Vice President Ilan Berman – traveled to Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, and subsequently to Ufa, the capital of Bashkortostan and the spiritual seat of Russia’s Muslim community.

AFPC Vice President Ilan Berman was interviewed in the November 17th episode of the Christian Broadcasting Network's "Stakelbeck on Terror" program on the strategic partnership between Iran and Venezuela.

Jeff M. Smith spoke to the National Security Lunch on Capitol Hill, a policy group co-hosted by the president of the Center for Security Policy, Frank Gaffney, and Ed Corrigan, Executive Director of the Senate Steering Committee.  Jeff addressed the U.S.-India relationship under President Obama and India's national security challenges in the 21st century, including Pakistan, China, and a Maoist insurgency.
