AFPC Kraemer Strategy Fellow Jeff M. Smith has received funding to produce a major study on Sino-Indian relations to be conducted over the next year.

As part of its two-decade tradition of organizing fact-finding missions to Russia, the American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC) sponsored a December 15-19 visit of senior American statesmen led by four former Under Secretaries of State: Paula Dobriansky, Robert Joseph, Richard McCormack and William Schneider.  Also joining the trip was former Assistant Secretary of Defense Mary Beth Long, as well as AFPC President  Herman Pirchner, Vice President Ilan Berman, and Senior Associate Wayne Merry.

Jeff M. Smith spoke to the National Security Lunch on Capitol Hill, a policy group co-hosted by the president of the Center for Security Policy, Frank Gaffney, and Ed Corrigan, Executive Director of the Senate Steering Committee.  Jeff addressed the U.S.-India relationship under President Obama and India's national security challenges in the 21st century, including Pakistan, China, and a Maoist insurgency. On May 20th, the American Foreign Policy Council convened the eighth installment of its Capitol Hill conference series on “Missile Defenses and American Security.” As in previous years, the event brought together leading national security and defense practitioners to examine the current state of the U.S. missile defense system, and ballistic missile threats to the United States. Speakers included: Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC); Lt. Gen. Henry Obering, former director of the Pentagon’s Missile Defense Agency; former NASA Associated Deputy Administrator Eric Sterner; former Acting Assistant Defense Secretary Frank Gaffney, and; former Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Robert Joseph.

Jeff Smith appeared on Fox News' America's Newsroom program to speak about Predator drone strikes in Pakistan.

On Thursday, December 10th, AFPC Vice President Ilan Berman was interviewed on the Fox News Channel's "America's Newsroom" program on the most recent, failed test of Russia's Bulava ICBM, and the implications for U.S.-Russian relations.
