General Richard B. Myers, USAF (Ret.) leads AFPC Delegation to China

Between June 17-21, 2006, a ten-person American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC) delegation led by General Richard B. Myers, USAF (Ret.), former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. armed forces visited China. Delegation members included former Undersecretary of Defense Dov Zakheim; Gen. Wayne Downing, former Commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command; former NSC Arms Control Director Sven Kraemer, and other national security experts. The trip marked the 24th such exchange of views facilitated by AFPC over the past 12 years.

 
Gov. Tom Ridge leads AFPC Delegation to China

A fourteen-member American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC) delegation visited China from October 28th to November 5th. The delegation, led by former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge, included William Schneider, Jr., Chairman of the Defense Department’s Defense Science Board, former Assistant Secretary for Homeland Security Susan Neely, AFPC President Herman Pirchner, Jr. and AFPC Vice President John Wobensmith.

AFPC Senior Associate Wayne Merry participated in a major conference on “Asia-Pacific Realities, Perspectives, Projects: XXI Century” at Russia’s Far Eastern State University in Vladivostok, from November 29th to the 31st, 2002.

AFPC Hosts Dinner with Chairman of the Mexican Senate Committee

On February 28, AFPC hosted an intimate dinner for the Chairman of the Mexican Senate Committee on International Relations, Mr. Fernando Margain.  Senator Margain is an articulate advocate of close US-Mexican relations.  His visit occurred soon after President Bush and President Fox of Mexico met to discuss this important bilateral relationship.

 
AFPC Hosts Russian Duma Members in Washington

The American Foreign Policy Council has recognized the importance of supporting institutions, not personalities, as Russia tries to find its way.  AFPC has long promoted ties between the legislative branches of Russia and the U.S. to help develop separation of powers in Russia, and to inform the U.S. Congress better about Russian developments.

Russian Leaders Discover America AFPC Coordinates Congressional Part of Library of Congress Program

The Library of Congress’ Russian Leadership Program (RLP) got off with a bang in the summer of 1999 when over 2,000 Russian officials visited the U.S. AFPC coordinated the congressional part of the program, co-chaired by Rep. Roger Wicker (R-MS-1) and Rep. Bud Cramer (D-AL-5).  Delegations were hosted by 32 members of Congress.
