On March 23, AFPC Kraemer Strategy Fellow Jeff Smith spoke at a conference titled "Iraq and Afghanistan in Flux" hosted by the University of Central Florida.

Jeff Smith appeared on Pakistan's Dawn News' NewsEye television program to discuss the failed terrorist attack on a U.S. airliner and the increasing security threat posed by al Qaeda operations in Yemen.

Jeff Smith appeared on Al Hurra's Free Hour TV program to discuss the latest bombings in Iraq and the Iraqi political situation.

Jeff Smith appeared on al Hurra TV's Free Hour to discuss Iraqi border security and regional politics with Faleh Al Fayad, a member of the Iraqi parliament and Bachir Abdel Fatta, a writer at Egypt's Al Ahram newspaper.

On July 28, AFPC Kraemer Strategy Fellow Jeff Smith, along with President Herman Pirchner, Jr.,  hosted a lunch for a visiting Indian official, Mr. Ram Madhav, member of the Central Executive of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

On April 28th, 2009, the American Foreign Policy Council convened a Capitol Hill briefing on U.S. policy toward Syria and Lebanon. The event, held under the auspices of the office of Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA-27), chairman of the House Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade, featured presentations by AFPC’s own Matthew RJ Brodsky; David Schenker of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy; United States Institute of Peace scholar Mona Yacoubian, and; Tony Badran of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies.

On Tuesday, February 24, Jeff Smith was interviewed live on Al-Hurra's "Free Hour" Television program regarding the status of U.S.-Iraqi relations and other developments in the Middle East.

On September 16, 2008, AFPC Senior Associate E. Wayne Merry spoke before the Arkansas Committee on Foreign Relations on the subject of the recent conflict between Russia and Georgia, and the future of U.S. policy in the Caucasus. His presentation was showcased the following day in a feature article by the Arkansas News Bureau.
