In recent months, AFPC hosted a pair of Chinese analysts and scholars at its Capitol Hill headquarters to discuss the state of U.S.-China relations, among other things.

On November 21, 2013, AFPC hosted Mr. Da Wei of the Chinese Institutes for Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), a think tank linked to China’s Ministry of Public Security, for a discussion with AFPC scholars and experts. The group discussed the escalating situation between China and Japan in the territorial dispute over the Senkaku/Diaoyu islands, the establishment of a Chinese National Security Council, the U.S. “pivot”/“rebalancing” to Asia, and the situation in Afghanistan/Pakistan. In early December, similar topics were covered in a discussion with Dr. Ren Xiao, a professor of international politics at Fudan University in Shanghai and a former official in the Chinese Embassy in Japan.
