Spencer Sexton joined AFPC in April 2024 as a Junior Fellow. He is currently a Master's candidate at the University of Notre Dame (expected May 2024), specializing in East Asia, with an emphasis on Chinese foreign policy and security in the Indo-Pacific. He is also thematically interested in fragile states, in which he has conducted intensive research on the Coastal West Africa region and Syria. He has worked as a contractor on developing an Assessment, Monitoring, and Evaluation (AM&E) framework on DOD stabilization and security cooperation policies for the U.S. Dept. of Defense Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Counternarcotics and Stabilization. He previously served for 5 years on the JET Program in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan and worked in the private sector.
