AFPC-led fact-finding trip to China

From September 17-24, AFPC Vice President Ilan Berman led a delegation of Mideast and counterterrorism specialists on a week-long research visit to China. The delegation toured China’s majority-Muslim western region of Xinjiang to explore the current state of Islam and Islamism in the country, as well as governmental responses. Thereafter, the delegation traveled to Beijing for meetings with an array of scholars, officials, and specialists to discuss China’s Mideast policy, the PRC’s current counterterrorism strategy, and the current state of U.S.-China ties.
