On July 13, AFPC Vice President Ilan Berman, Kraemer Strategy Fellow Jeff M. Smith, and Research Fellow Rich Harrison headlined an event at the Heritage Foundation titled “The Global Scope of Radical Islam: A Briefing on the American Foreign Policy Council’s new World Almanac of Islamism.” The group spoke at length about the launch of the World Almanac of Islamism’s online database this spring.
Harrison demonstrated the website’s features and functionality through a Powerpoint presentation, while Smith and Berman outlined the scope of the ambitious project and the motivation behind it. The print version of the Almanac -- which includes 58 country studies, seven transnational Islamist movement briefs, as well as regional summaries and a global overview -- became commercially available in October and both print and digital versions can be found at almanac.afpc.org.
