Kyle Kinnie joined the American Foreign Policy Council as a Fellow in Indo-Pacific Studies in February 2025. He focuses on issues pertaining to China's military, trade, and politics in an age of rising Great Power competition.
Mr. Kinnie is currently Research Assistant and Personal Private Secretary to Sir Niall Ferguson at the Hoover Institution, where he contributed essential research to Sir Niall's forthcoming biography of Henry Kissinger as well as other published works. While at Hoover, he attained executive assistant experience and was a member of the Hoover Applied History Working Group. Mr. Kinnie also serves as an Operations Analyst at Greenmantle, an international macroeconomic and geopolitical advisory firm headquartered in New York.
Mr. Kinnie holds an MPhil in Modern European History from the University of Cambridge and a B.A. with Honors in International Relations from Stanford University. He has presented his research findings on historical Chinese military modernization, arms transfers, and geopolitical revisionism at academic conferences in Europe.
Mr. Kinnie is a Junior Member of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations and a Member of the Delta Phi Epsilon Foreign Service Council. He has traveled widely in China, Russia, and other countries in Eurasia. He speaks Spanish and German proficiently and Mandarin Chinese at an intermediate level.
