Max Abrahms joined AFPC in June 2025 as Senior Fellow in Counterterrorism. Dr. Abrahms is a tenured professor of political science at Northeastern University, where he specializes in international security, homeland security, the international relations of the Middle East, and especially terrorism and counterterrorism. He regularly appears in the media, consults for government agencies such as the CIA regarding the international terrorism landscape, and serves as a red team, white team, and blue team counterterrorism expert for multinational corporations such as Amazon. Previously, Abrahms taught courses on these topics at Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Dartmouth, and NATO. He has held fellowships and other research affiliations with institutions such as the Center for International Security and Cooperation at Stanford University, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, and the Belfer Center at Harvard University. Abrahms holds an M.Phil in International Relations from Oxford, as well as a Ph.D. in Political Science from UCLA.
