On February 10th, AFPC held the most recent installment of its periodic Congressional staffer briefing series on radical Islam. The featured speaker was Dr. Haroon Ullah, the Chief Strategy Officer of the U.S. government’s Broadcasting Board of Governors, and the author of Digital World War: Islamists, Extremists, and the Fight for Cyber Supremacy.

In his remarks, Dr. Ullah outlined the new digital battlefield in the “war of ideas” with Islam extremism — and explained how radical groups such as the Islamic State are exploiting new technology and digital media to proliferate their messages, and what the U.S. can and should do in response.

The event, held in the U.S. Capitol’s Capitol Visitor Center, drew representatives from a range of Congressional offices, as well as a number of scholars and experts focusing on counterterrorism and Islamic extremism.
