On January 31, AFPC hosted the latest in what has become of a series of periodic dinners with Andrei Kozyrev, former Foreign Minister of Russia (1990-1996). Kozyrev, who recently became an American citizen, outlined his ongoing criticism of the Putin regime — a criticism that has led Putin to personally denounce Kozyrev.

The main theme of the evening focused on the conflicting interests of Putin and the Russian population at large. Within that framework, almost all aspects regarding Russia’s international and domestic politics were discussed.

As always, the conversation was lively and the audience of former and current U.S. officials came away with a deeper knowledge of Russian culture and politics. We look forward to hosting future dinner with Minister Kozyrev later this summer.
