On May 17, AFPC’s CACI held a forum on Capitol Hill on the subject of "Trans-Caspian Trade and Transit." CACI Chairman Frederick Starr served as the moderator for the event, and key speakers included Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, Chief Advisor to the President of Afghanistan, as well as Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication, Elmir Valizade, and Turkey's Deputy Minister of Economy, Fatih Metin. The briefing brought together members of Congress, Congressional Staff, and delegates from Trans-Caspian countries to discuss the emerging geopolitical importance of the region's burgeoning energy and transportation network, as well as U.S. commercial interests arising from it.
