In early February 2021, the American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC) was delighted to welcome Mora Namdar as Senior Fellow for Middle East Studies. An attorney and foreign policy expert, Ms. Namdar served most recently as the Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs and as Vice President of the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM). Before that, she was a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of State, working on a variety of global issues. These responsibilities included, but were not limited to, working on Iran politics and policy, international messaging and broadcasting, and serving on the State Department’s Iran Action Group.

“Mora brings with her a wealth of expertise about Iran and the Middle East,” said AFPC Senior Vice President Ilan Berman. “She has vast knowledge of the mechanics of U.S. policy from her time in government. She also has worked extensively on issues such as human rights, broadcasting and diplomacy – issues that are essential to an informed American approach to that region. We are delighted to welcome her to the team.”
