On September 21, AFPC held a conference discussing the state of world Islamism in 2017 in the Senate Visitor Center. AFPC Senior Vice President Ilan Berman provided opening remarks, which were followed by a panel discussion. The panel participants included: Central Asia-Caucasus Institute Director and AFPC Senior Fellow for Eurasia Dr. Svante Cornell; Deputy Director Senior Associate of the Wilson Center South Asia/Asia Program Michael Kugleman; Associate Director of the Atlantic Council’s Africa Center Kelsey Lilley; and American Enterprise Institute Research Fellow and Critical Threats Project Research Manager Katherine Zimmerman. Amb. Alberto Fernandez President of the Middle East Broadcasting Networks (MBN) offered closing remarks.

The conference marked the publication of the 2017 Edition of AFPC’s World Almanac of Islamism. The Almanac is a definitive work on Islamism worldwide, with chapters on 10 global movements and 62 countries.
