On February 21, AFPC Vice President of Operations Rich Harrison participated in a small roundtable discussion hosted by U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Chance “Salty” Saltzman, Director of Future Operations, concerning the USAF Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2) initiative.

Specifically, BG Saltzman is tasked with investigating and developing next generation MDC2 as the joint force moves to the "information age of warfare." As such, BG Saltzman reached out to a small group of eight leaders in the high technology think tank community that could help the USAF identify new strategies to enable the Air Force to achieve total inter-operability regarding seamless, fully integrated operations in response to the increasing variety of potential transnational threats to the U.S.
On April 13, as a follow-up to the initial Pentagon-based discussion, Harrison hosted a roundtable for BG Saltzman at AFPC headquarters to further discuss the MDC2 initiative. Participants included several AFPC defense studies fellows, along with cybersecurity and space security experts. Topics discussed included: Determining challenges associated with the integration of air, space, and cyber forces in multi-domain campaigns; identifying strategies to shorten the acquisitions process for MDC2-assistive technologies; and providing insight as to how USAF leadership can develop expertise in each domain (air, space, and cyber) to better prepare for future Joint Task Force initiatives.
