On October 24, AFPC’s CACI hosted a roundtable on Baltic Sea security. The roundtable took place against the backdrop of growing tensions in northern Europe, with increasing Russian military activity leading to renewed debate in Finland and Sweden about the merits of accession to NATO. The main speaker at the roundtable was Anna Wieslander, the Stockholm-based Director for Northern Europe with the Atlantic Council and Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Institute for Security and Development Policy. The roundtable was attended by officials from the Departments of Defense and State, regional experts, and the Washington diplomatic corps. The discussion focused on identifying ways to improve regional security by improving Transatlantic coordination, including between NATO and the European Union.
