On May 1, AFPC’s CACI held a launch event for its latest book, "The Long Game on the Silk Road: US and EU Strategy for Central Asia and the Caucasus". AFPC President Herman Pirchner, Jr. served as the moderator for the event, which showcased the authors, CACI Chairman Frederick Starr and CACI Director Svante Cornell.

"The Long Game on the Silk Road" draws on CACI's twenty years of interaction with the region, and takes stock of American and European policies toward Central Asia and the Caucasus. It acknowledges the many achievements of this engagement to date, but argues that Western policies suffer from serious and unacknowledged conceptual and structural flaws that must be addressed in order to make U.S. and European policy more effective.
